Bluey is a show about playing, so the best Bluey toys are the ones a child can play the show's games with: driving the Heeler family car, splashing about at bath time, dancing with Chattermax. This guide sorts nine of them by age, from VTech Toot-Toot Drivers at one to Pop Up Bluey at four, with the batteries each one needs. We checked every age marking and contents list against the maker's own information.

What a young Bluey fan wants from a toy

Most Bluey fans are between two and six, and they want to be in the show rather than watch it again. A toy that talks in a character's voice, or one that lets them act out a scene, gets more play than a toy that only carries the name.

Ask which episode or character they talk about most. A child who loves Bingo will want Bingo, and a child who copies the dance from the show will want the bird that dances with them.

Bluey toys by age: 1, 18 months, 3 and 4

From one, VTech's Toot-Toot Drivers are sized for small hands. VTech says the Bingo garbage truck, the Bluey Escape convertible and the Road Trip play set are best for ages 1 to 5. From 18 months, TOMY marks its three Toomies Bluey bath toys for toddlers.

From three, Chattermax adds lights, dancing and a voice recorder; VTech says it is not suitable for children under 36 months. Addo Play's Good Times set is also marked 3+: a wooden Snakes and Ladders board that turns over for Tic Tac Toe. From four, Pop Up Bluey is a first game for two to four players.

Toot-Toot Drivers: the Heeler family on the road

Each Toot-Toot Drivers vehicle lights up and plays a song and melodies in its character's voice when it is pushed. On a Toot-Toot Drivers play set, the vehicles say different things as they cross SmartPoint locations.

The Road Trip play set is the one to put them on: the track runs from the Heeler house to the beach and school, the chimney launches the car, and pressing Bluey's head plays her phrases. It needs assembling by an adult, so build it before the day.

Bluey at bath time

TOMY's Toomies bath toys need no batteries. The family pourers are four nesting jugs shaped like Bluey, Bingo, Chilli and Bandit, each with different holes for the water. The swimming Bluey is wound by pulling her seahorse friend's cord, and she swims front crawl or backstroke depending on which way up she goes.

Bluey's Waterslide sticks to the tiles or the side of the bath with suction pads. Fill the bucket, and Bluey slides down into the water. Tip the water out of bath toys after play so they can dry.

Batteries and before you buy

The VTech toys take ordinary batteries: two AAA for each Toot-Toot Drivers vehicle and for the Road Trip set, and two AA for Chattermax. VTech says the batteries in the box are for demonstration, so have spares ready for Christmas morning.

The TOMY bath toys, the wooden games set and Pop Up Bluey need no batteries. We have not listed a Bluey phone yet, because VTech's page does not say which batteries it takes, and we hold back toys that might use button cells until a person has checked them.

How these Bluey toys were chosen

The nine toys come from VTech, TOMY and Addo Play. We read each one's age marking, battery needs and contents on vtech.co.uk and us.tomy.com on 6 October 2026. Addo Play has no product pages of its own, so we read its games set on Early Learning Centre's site, which sells Addo Play's toys, on 26 October. All nine are sold by The Entertainer, and we have checked every Awin link to them.

Bluey figures and playsets by Moose Toys are not listed yet: Moose's own site does not give an age marking for them. The toys run from the youngest age marking to the oldest, which is not a TopTenToys ranking.

What Bluey toys suit a 1-year-old?
VTech says its Toot-Toot Drivers Bluey vehicles and Road Trip play set are best for ages 1 to 5. TOMY's Toomies Bluey bath toys are marked from 18 months.
What Bluey toys suit a 5-year-old?
At five, a game the whole family can play gets the most use: Pop Up Bluey is marked 4+, takes two to four players and is learned in a minute. The Dance Mode Chattermax, marked 3+, suits a five-year-old who likes to dance and play copycat, with three modes and lights in its feathers, beak and tummy. The bath toys and Toot-Toot Drivers here are made for younger children.
Which Bluey toys need batteries?
The VTech toys do: two AAA for each Toot-Toot Drivers vehicle and the Road Trip set, and two AA for Chattermax. The TOMY bath toys, the wooden games set and Pop Up Bluey need none.
Is there a Chattermax toy like the one in Bluey?
Yes. VTech's Dance Mode Chattermax lights up, dances and records and plays back voices. VTech says it is best for ages 3 to 6 and not suitable for children under 36 months.
Is there a Bluey film coming?
Yes. BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios have announced The Bluey Movie for 6 August 2027. The UK cinema date has not been confirmed yet, so we will update this guide when it is.
