Before you choose
A Pokémon fan knows their favourites by name and type, and wants to catch, train and battle them away from the screen too. This guide covers the new LEGO Pokémon sets, explains what SMART Play Compatible means before you buy, and adds battle figures, a Charizard to display, games, two puzzles and a playset: ten toys, each with its age marking and contents checked.
What a Pokémon fan wants from a toy
Pokémon is built on three ideas: catching, caring and battling. The toys that work best let a child do one of those with Pokémon they recognise. A set with their favourite Pokémon will be played with long after a bigger set with ones they do not know.
Ask which Pokémon they like most before choosing. The toys here feature Pikachu, Charmander, Charizard, Geodude, Chansey, Marill, Snorlax and Mewtwo, which covers starters, cute favourites and a Legendary, and the battle figure pack adds nine more, from Bulbasaur and Squirtle to Cinderace.
- Check which Pokémon are in the box, by name.
- Decide whether they want to build, battle or play a game.
- Check the age marking against the piece count.
- Read what SMART Play Compatible means before buying a LEGO set.
LEGO Pokémon and SMART Play, explained
The children's LEGO Pokémon sets on this list belong to LEGO's SMART Play range. All-In-One sets include a SMART Brick; SMART Play Compatible sets, like two of the three here, include SMART Tags in the Pokémon figures instead. LEGO says the SMART Brick, found in All-In-One sets and sold separately, brings interactive play to the tagged Pokémon.
Without a SMART Brick, a Compatible set is still a complete LEGO set to build and play with: the functions LEGO describes, such as Geodude's disc shooter or Mewtwo's breakout dial, are mechanical. Think of the SMART Brick as an extra, not a requirement.
If you do want the lights and sounds, start with an All-In-One set. The Training House with Pikachu (6+, 400 pieces) includes the SMART Brick, its charger and four SMART Tags, and LEGO lists about 45 minutes of play per charge. The same brick then works with the Compatible sets, and LEGO's SMART Assist app is used to set it up and update it. Read the notices on the box before play.
Some LEGO Pokémon sets are display models for adults. LEGO marks the Eevee (72151) and Pikachu and Poké Ball (72152) models 18+, so they are not on this list even though they are easy to find in toy shops.
Pokémon toys by age: 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 10
The youngest marking here is 3+, on Ravensburger's Pokémon 4 in a Box: four shaped jigsaws of 12 to 24 pieces with Pikachu and the Paldea starters, a gentle first puzzle for a small fan who knows the names already.
Under six, the choice is figures rather than builds. Jazwares marks its Battle Figure 10 Pack 4+, and Funko's Charizard Pop comes in a box that warns it is not for children under three. The Pop is a vinyl figure made to stand on a shelf, so it suits a fan who likes to display their favourites more than one who plays rough.
At six, Charmander and Geodude's Cavern Clash (6+, 198 pieces) is the youngest Compatible LEGO set here: a Trainer, Charmander and a cave with a hidden crystal. Six is also the marking on Ravensburger's 72-piece Pikachu puzzle ball and the Squish-a-longs Pokémon Center, which needs no building at all.
At seven, Pokémon Labyrinth (7+) is a game for two to four players that takes about 20 to 30 minutes. At eight, Monopoly Pokémon Edition is marked 8+ for two to four players. At ten, Mewtwo's Lab Break (605 pieces) frees a fully articulated Mewtwo from its tank.
Battling, caring and catching
Battle-minded fans will like the sets with an opponent built in. In Cavern Clash, Geodude swivels and fires discs while the Trainer uses a lever to break the rock, and Mewtwo's dial bursts the lab tank open.
For battles with nothing to build first, the Battle Figure 10 Pack lines up nine small Pokémon, including Pikachu and the three Kanto starters, against a larger Cinderace that comes with a fireball accessory. Pikachu stands on a clear stand, as if it has just leapt into the fight.
Fans who like looking after their Pokémon will prefer the Squish-a-longs Pokémon Center, where Chansey heals the Mini-Squish Pokémon at a screen that flips over, and Snorlax can lounge in the beanbag chair. It closes up to carry, so the whole team travels together.
Pokémon game night, puzzles and trading cards
Monopoly Pokémon Edition turns a family board game into a catching game, with tracker mats, wild Pokémon chips and 90 cardboard Poké Balls alongside the usual board and dice. It suits a family where one child is the Pokémon expert and everyone else can still follow along.
Pokémon Labyrinth is the quicker game: Ravensburger's sliding-maze board, where the corridors shift every turn, in a Pokémon edition for two to four players from seven. For a quiet afternoon, the Pikachu puzzle ball builds a round Pikachu, ears and all, from 72 curved pieces. For a younger brother or sister, the 4 in a Box jigsaws go up in steps, so the 12-piece one can come out first and the 24-piece one later.
If the fan in your house collects cards, our trading cards guide covers Pokémon card sets for new players and collectors.
Before you buy
Cavern Clash includes a disc shooter, and every LEGO set has small parts, so keep the pieces away from children under three. Count the discs and small pieces back into the box after play.
We left out the MEGA Pokémon Kanto Region Pokédex for now: Mattel marks it 13+ and its light runs on LR41 button batteries, which we hold back for a person to check. We have not yet listed Pokémon plush, and we keep to no more than three sets from one LEGO range.
The battle figures and their stand are small enough to swallow, so keep the pack away from children under three, as with the LEGO sets.
How these Pokémon toys were chosen
The ten toys come from LEGO, Hasbro, Ravensburger, Jazwares and Funko. For seven of them, the age marking and contents were read on the maker's own site between 6 and 17 October 2026, and The Entertainer sells each of those through an Awin link we have checked. The 4 in a Box jigsaws were read on Ravensburger's UK site on 19 October 2026, and Hamleys sells them through an Awin link we have checked.
Jazwares and Funko do not list the Battle Figure 10 Pack or this edition of the Charizard Pop on their own sites, so on 18 October 2026 we read the item number, barcode and box markings of each from the product itself. Both link to Amazon.
They appear by age marking, youngest first, which is not a TopTenToys ranking. For more LEGO across every theme, see our LEGO guide.

Questions
Common questions

- No. They build and play as normal LEGO sets. LEGO says a SMART Brick, found in All-In-One sets sold separately, adds interactive play with the SMART Tags in the Pokémon figures.
- What age are LEGO Pokémon sets for?
- The children's sets in this guide are marked from 6+ to 10+. Some LEGO Pokémon display models, such as Eevee (72151) and Pikachu and Poké Ball (72152), are marked 18+ and are made for adults.
- What is a good Pokémon toy for a 6-year-old?
- LEGO Charmander and Geodude's Cavern Clash is marked 6+ and has 198 pieces, and the Squish-a-longs Pokémon Center and the Pikachu puzzle ball are 6+ too. For a fan who prefers collecting, our trading cards guide covers Pokémon card sets.
